  2. It depends on the social status of the subject.
    He/she who finds the people around him/her are somewhat inferior in a way, or perhaps too imerged in their own small notion of life, might end up connecting more easily with someone on the other side of the globe. Some whose closeness is more evident to the subject, not geographicly speaking but ideologicaly speaking.
    So basicly social "IRL" detachment allied with the finding of an imposing ideological figure (the "absent person" on the internet) might lead to a deeper bond. It depends both on the personality of the subject, and the social ability [and (un)conciousness] of the Figure, that will ultimatly dictate the degree of importance or relevance of the relationship in both character's lifes.
